2024 Summer Community Event Grant Awardees

Spring and Summer 2024 Community Event Grant Awardees 

The office reviewed and scored 196 applications for the spring and summer seasons. Awards went to the top scoring 36 applications, including seven that were film-related.  

Additional funding was also secured to award an additional 18 runners-up with up to 50% of their request.  

  • Awarded grants totaled $189,750. 

  • 77% of awardees identify as Black, Indigenous, or Person of Color. 

  • All of the events are free or have an accessible pricing structure. 

 

Prosper Portland, Travel Oregon, Travel Portland, and the City of Portland Office of Arts and Culture support and fund this program.

A three-day poetry festival and spoken word competition happening in Portland, OR on June 13- 15, 2024. Free poetry open mics, writing workshops, showcases, and access to a poetry market throughout all three days, with a big poetry slam tournament across the evenings (the Finals Stage being the only ticketed event of the entire festival). All are welcome to attend - we hope to see you there!

Experience Portland's first-ever Taste of Thailand Food Festival, which offers authentic dishes from northern, northeastern, central, and southern regions of Thailand. The festival showcases well-known local restaurants, including Nong Kao Man Gai, Khao Moo Dang, Farmhouse Kitchen, Kati Thai Vegan, Somtum Thai Kitchen, BKK PadThai and many more. 

The event celebrates Thai culture and is a collaboration between the Yard Apartments, the Thai Royal Consulate, and Prosper Portland.

Montavilla Street Fair is the largest event in East Portland, attracting 16,000 attendees to Historic Downtown Montavilla on the last Sunday in July. Attendees can expect family-friendly fun, music, incredible food from around the world, art, crafts and other wares from more than 150 vendors on SE Stark and nearby side streets, alongside sales and specials from more than 25 participating brick-and-mortar businesses.
